Get some poo on your shoe at the Clevedon A&P

Get some poo on your shoe at the Clevedon A&P

Families from town and country will be saddling up, joining the herd and flocking to Clevedon, to get some poo on their shoes at Auckland’s definitive country day out.

The village’s unique A&P show, which was first established in 1909, goes non-stop from 9am-5pm on Saturday 10 November and Sunday 11 November at Clevedon Showgrounds, Monument Road.

Situated just 30min from Auckland and 15min from Manukau, and one of only three A&P shows left in the Auckland area, today the attractions combine the very best in rural living and urban sophistication.

While enjoying all the traditional country competitions and demonstrations, you can also savour the flavours of local fine speciality foods. You can treat yourself to some Clevedon oysters or mouth-watering wild food treats from the Wairoa Hotel and Restaurant - Winner of last year’s Monteith’s Wild Food Challenge.

Then unwind with wines from the surrounding boutique vineyards and follow it up with some locally made speciality chocolates and an espresso.

“We pride ourselves on making sure there’s something for everyone, especially families with children” said Murray Helm, who has been helping organisers prepare for the two-day invasion. “You have some truly top notch equestrians taking part, and then something like the ever popular organised chaos of lawn mower polo. There’s so much going on.”

When you are tired of all the excitement, you can relax in the beer garden, enjoy the live music, sip cool Pimms in the marquee, or just soak up the idyllic atmosphere.

“We had an outstanding show last year and there has been a real buzz building up to this one,” said Murray.

Admission to all areas is $20 for a family, including two adults and as many kids as you can fit in your car. Single adults are $10, concessions (two adults) $15, children aged three-14 $3 and under 3s are free.
