Cheese galore at CheeseFest

Media release : 5 March 2008

Cheese galore at CheeseFest

The public will get a chance to try over 400 of the country’s best cheeses at CheeseFest this evening (5 March) to showcase the award-winners in this year’s Cuisine NZ Champions of Cheese Awards.

‘King of the blues’ Maestro from Ferndale and young ‘upstart’ Parvenu from artisan producer Crescent Dairy Goats in Albany stole the show at last night’s Cuisine NZ Champions of Cheese Awards.

These two top performers will join over 400 other cheeses entered into this year’s awards for the public sampling at SKYCITY Convention Centre. Attendees can try the countries top cheddars, best blues, creamiest bries, sharpest fetas and some exciting new additions including cheese made from buffalo milk. CheeseFest will feature the biggest array of NZ Speciality cheese ever displayed in one room.

Cheese producers from around the country and Cuisine Champions of Cheese Master Judge Neil Willman will be on hand to introduce and answer any questions the public may have about the cheeses.

For just $35, CheeseFest attendees will be able to sample as many cheeses as they can eat accompanied by a complimentary glass of Shingle Peak wine and a glass of Taylor’s Port.

For the first time, the cheeses will also be on sale for people to take home and enjoy. CheeseFest, SKYCITY Convention Centre, 4.30-8pm, $35. Door sales are available.
