Canon Launches Compact, High Magnification All-in-One Zoom Lens

The EF-S18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens offers a high magnification range and Image Stabilizer technology in a lightweight, compact design

Canon New Zealand has launched the highly-anticipated EF-S18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS telephoto zoom lens for Canon EOS DSLR cameras. Photo enthusiasts looking for a compact and lightweight lens with superior high magnification zoom performance need look no further.

Rochelle Mora, Product Manager – Photographic, Consumer Imaging Products Group, Canon New Zealand said the launch of this lens will assist photographers to capture images that traditionally involved carrying two separate lenses.

“In the past enthusiasts required a lens for close ups and another to take distance shots were with the new EF-S lens can deliver the best in performance in both situations and does not compromise quality or speed.” says Mora.

More Versatility For Users
The new lens features an 18-200mm high zoom ratio of up to approximately 11 times, spanning wide to telephoto (focal length image equivalent to 29-320mm in 35mm format). Enthusiast photographers will welcome the versatility this lens offers and the creative possibilities it unfolds.

The EF-S18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens fits all APS-C sized sensor models including the EOS 1000D, EOS 450D, EOS 40D and the EOS 50D. The lens also comes packaged with the EOS 50D and EOS 450D Premium Kits.

Increased Portability
An attractive feature of the new lens for enthusiast photographers is its light weight and portability, perfect for travelling and situations where saving space is essential. Instead of lugging two lenses around, photographers can be confident that, when they are equipped with the EF-S18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS, all their requirements are taken care of.

High Performance Technology
Canon’s superior Image Stabilizer Lens technology helps correct the effects of hand-held shake. This technology enables camera shake compensation of approximately four shutter speeds, giving users greater opportunity to experiment with low-light, tripod-free photography.

The Canon EF-S18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens (RRP $TBC) will be available throughout New Zealand from Authorised Canon New Zealand resellers from late September.
