Business opportunity for Rugby World Cup

9 March 2009

Media Release

Business opportunity for Rugby World Cup

A resource showing businesses how to take advantage of Rugby World Cup 2011 will be released this week, coinciding with the Game and Host City Allocation draw this Thursday.

Developed by Auckland Plus, the region’s economic development agency, the resource is aimed at:

• Providing information on venues, match schedules and forecasted attendance levels
• Providing information on Rugby World Cup visitors and their expectations
• Giving business communities tips on how to be a local or regional supplier
• Developing a plan for business to take advantage of a major event
• Linking businesses to advice and training
• De-mystifying the Rugby World Cup organisations

Auckland Chamber CEO, Michael Barnett, believes that every community across New Zealand that will host a game or is playing host to a team stands to gain from the event and will benefit from the resource.

The resource will be available on www.auckland2011.com and will be added to as ideas are shared between regions
