Metlifecare Takapuna stage one ahead of schedule

Stage One completion of Metlifecare Takapuna ahead of schedule

Metlifecare is pleased to announce that development on Stage One of Metlifecare Takapuna will be completed ahead of schedule and following recent Board approval, development on Stage Two will commence shortly and is scheduled for completion in mid-2010.

This confirmation ensures that residents who have purchased apartments in Stage One will enjoy an expanded range of community facilities earlier than anticipated. These additional facilities include an indoor heated swimming pool, spa pool, gymnasium and croquet green.

It is this combination of lifestyle, luxury and central location that will make Metlifecare Takapuna the most sought after retirement village on the North Shore.

Metlifecare Takapuna will open its doors to residents for the first time in June 2009. Pioneering residents will be personally welcomed by newly appointed village manager Lynda Hull who comes to Takapuna from a managing role at Metlifecare's Kapiti Coast Village.

"It has been very exciting watching this concept unfold into the absolutely beautiful buildings we are seeing now. I am looking forward to welcoming our pioneering residents with a celebratory glass of port or wine and being part of a team that helps them enjoy the wonderful lifestyle here," says Lynda.

Due to the impressive scale of this project, the village is being completed over four stages with extensive planning to ensure that any ongoing development will have a limited impact on village residents.

Stage One will deliver the first two apartment buildings, named the Loggia Building and City Lights Building.

The Loggia Building takes its name from the Italian word meaning "gallery with open sides" and the building fits this description perfectly. Its signature design feature is a colonnade and outdoor space where the café outdoor seating will be situated. Overhead is an automated louvred roofing system that will allow residents extended use of this sheltered and landscaped area, with an outdoor fireplace for that extra warmth and comfort.
