Marlborough – the premier region of New Zealand’s wine industry – will be showcased in an exclusive weekend at the end of October 2009.

Spread over three days from Friday October 30 to Sunday November 1, 300 guests will be treated to the very best of Marlborough with an array of world class wine and food, set in beautiful vineyards and exclusive venues around the region.

Starting with a picnic at the historic Timara Lodge, guests will then be transported to the International Grand Tastings where everyone will be given the opportunity to compare world famous Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir’s with wines from overseas. Later that day a Twilight Garden party will tantalise the taste buds, with a unique selection of Marlborough wines matched with a range of sumptuous food.

The next day provides guests with a chance to get closer to the sub regional differences of Marlborough’s valleys via a guided tour to all parts of our diverse region. Tastings at each of the regions will show the diverse characteristics of the Awatere, Wairau and Southern Valleys. Guest Chef Al Brown from award winning restaurant Logan Brown and the TV series “Hunger for the Wild” will take inspiration from the Marlborough wines when he prepares a five course gourmet dinner for Saturday night. Bound to be one of the highlights, the dinner will be held in the picturesque gardens of Timara Lodge.

Finishing the weekend off on Sunday, a Sparkling Sounds Cruise will give guests the opportunity to experience one of the country’s best kept secrets – the Marlborough Sounds. As they sip on the best bubbles and Sauvignon Blanc to come out of the region, they will also visit a mussel farm and indulge in a freshly prepared seafood luncheon.

The Marlborough Wine Weekend tickets are available for individual events or alternatively you can purchase a full weekend pass. Numbers are limited, and tickets can be ordered online via the Wine Marlborough website – www.winemarlborough. co.nz
