Precast New Zealand Celebrates Milestone

Precast New Zealand Incorporated (PCNZ) has reached a major milestone with a celebration this week to mark 10 years since it was formed.

PCNZ is a non-profit trade association incorporated in June 1999, and is the recognised voice of the New Zealand off-site manufacturing precast industry.

The organisation, which represents 20 precast concrete companies nation-wide, celebrated the achievement last night at a function in Epsom, Auckland. Guests included past presidents, corporate members and associate members.

PCNZ president John Marshall says in the current recessionary environment the need for strategic and proactive industry representation, such as that provided by PCNZ, is more important than ever.

“As it has since its inception in 1999, PCNZ will continue to work tirelessly on behalf of its members to research, develop, promote and protect the interests of the precast concrete industry within New Zealand,” Mr Marshall says.

“PCNZ has contributed to a robust and dynamic industry through ongoing support for trade training and skills development, along with its strong representation before government, the continued improvement of regulatory provisions, and planning for the establishment of a plant certification scheme for members aimed at the consistent manufacture of quality products.”

While the precast industry can be justly proud of what it has accomplished over the past 10 years, he says, the future holds many exciting opportunities, including implementation of the plant certification scheme over the next 18 months.

“Working towards this objective will ensure precast concrete remains the construction material of choice for suitable applications.”
