Women in business love to network

MEDIA RELEASE 9 September 2009

Women in business love to network

The Kapiti Coast Chamber of Commerce and Nature Coast Enterprise continue to support the Women in Business Network for the region.  More than 75 women attended the Network evening on Tuesday 1st September at the Lindale Conference Centre.

Since the launch of the Network an Organising Committee has been formed with Jane Stevenson, a local lawyer from Kapiti Law being appointed to Chair the group.  The Kapiti Coast Chamber of Commerce and Nature Coast Enterprise will continue as active members of that Committee.

The purpose of the Network is to provide an opportunity to meet with like-minded women, to tap in to support, knowledge and experience; to provide personal and professional development and an opportunity to profile your business.

There were two business profiles presented on the night – Angela Buswell of Minx Shoes and Jane Richardson from An Extra Pair of Hands.  Both Angela and Jane talked about the growth of their respective businesses and the importance of recruiting quality staff and having good systems and procedures in-place.

Once again, speed networking in groups of three was a real hit with those attending.  Congratulations to Jan Forrest of Coastlands who received a Minx gift voucher and Gina Body of Ray White who received an oven cleaning voucher from An Extra Pair of Hands.

Jane Stevenson, Chair of the Women in Business Network said “there was a great feeling of energy in the room and it was pleasing to watch all the attendees interact so readily.  This really is a great initiative and as Chair I look forward to working with my committee to meet the obvious need in our business community to bring women together where they can learn from the experiences of like minded women who have successfully established and maintained their businesses.  We welcome all women in business, not just those who are currently business owners, and hope they take away some valuable information from listening to others who have worked hard to become sustainable and of course also enjoy the social side of mixing with a great bunch of enthusiastic and friendly faces.”
