Bacardi announces Lion Nathan as New Zealand distributor

Auckland, New Zealand:- Bacardi today announces an agreement in principle for the appointment of Lion Nathan New Zealand as distributor for all Bacardi brands, including 42 BELOW, in New Zealand.

“Unifying with a sole distributor allows for maximum exposure of our brand portfolio, thereby reaching more customers and consumers,” said Paul Dibbayawan, managing director of 42 Below Ltd. “Lion Nathan’s performance in this market is exceptional and its strong multi-beverage portfolio means it has excellent reach into the hospitality and retail trade supported by highly effective and efficient sales and distribution operations.”

“Lion Nathan also has a long track record of nurturing a number of iconic international spirit brands in New Zealand as well as successfully growing some of New Zealand’s best-loved alcoholic beverages such as STEINLAGER, SPEIGHT’S, MAC’S and WITHER HILLS. We are very pleased this commitment will now extend to the Bacardi brands, including 42 BELOW. We believe Lion Nathan has the passion, expertise and systems to best deliver the outcomes that we’re looking to achieve for our brands in New Zealand.”

“Bacardi’s decision is an endorsement of our commitment to offering the very best alcohol beverages in New Zealand with the best-loved local and international brands and we’re very pleased to add Bacardi’s outstanding brands, including 42 BELOW, to our portfolio,” said Peter Kean, managing director of Lion Nathan New Zealand.

The new distribution agreement will be finalized and take effect 1 November 2009.
