Homegrown Franchise Scoops Another Accolade

Domiciled in Hawkes Bay, the world’s largest courier franchise system, Fastway Couriers, has added yet another award to its impressive list of industry accolades, with the firm’s Irish operation taking out the coveted title of ‘Franchise of the Year (Service)’ with the Irish Franchise Association.

The award follows the business’s most successful year on record; achieving a mammoth 42% growth in sales, despite operating in the worst economic conditions in the country’s history. This growth is thanks in part to the organisation successfully partnering with one of the Ireland’s largest movers of home delivery items; a step that saw Fastway’s feet firmly planted the B2C arena.

Commenting on the honour, owners of Fastway Ireland, Andy Hennessy and Gerry Riordan said, “We are delighted to win this Award which recognises excellence in franchising as well as success in the freight industry. Our team had a tremendous year in 2009, and we look forward to another solid performance in 2010.”

This prestigious accolade joins the ever growing ‘trophy cabinet’ of Fastway Couriers – an overflowing collection of over 40 industry awards collected since the company’s inception in Hawkes Bay some 26 years ago. It also takes pride of place next to the New Zealand firm’s recent win; ‘Supreme Award for Franchisee of the Year 2009/2010’ taken out by Fastway Courier Franchisee, Bill Sampson of Tauranga at the recent Westpac New Zealand Franchise Awards.

“At Fastway, we believe the ultimate ‘pat on the back’ is being recognised by our customers and the sector that we are so proud to be a part of. We’re proud to be continuing a long held tradition of excellence.” said Fastway Couriers New Zealand CEO, Bruce Speers.
