ECan commissioners to get on with the job

ECan commissioners to get on with the job

Federated Farmers welcomes the appointment to Environment Canterbury (ECan), of seven Commissioners under the chair of Dame Margaret Bazley.

“This team of seven Commissioners including the chair represent an impressive brains trust and is representative of Canterbury’s various stakeholders,” says Michael Morrow, Federated Farmers Mid-Canterbury president.

“Federated Farmers wants to work constructively with ECan to advance resource management policies, in particular freshwater management, allocation and developing Canterbury’s immense water storage potential.

“We’re extremely confident ECan and Canterbury will be left in a much stronger position ready for a return to a democratically elected council by 2013, at the latest,” Mr Morrow concluded.
