Ecostore announces laundry powder reformulation

Ecostore announces laundry powder reformulation

ecostore has today announced that it has reformulated its laundry powder to ensure it meets with New Zealand regulatory guidelines.

“Laundry powders in New Zealand are supposed to have a pH of 11.5 and ours was 11.8, which is 0.3 over the New Zealand limit,” said Malcolm Rands, Chief Executive and founder of ecostore.

“This minor difference took us by surprise, because we work hard to abide by all New Zealand rules and regularly test all our products to ensure compliance. As a proudly New Zealand-owned business we make sure we get the best advice possible from consultant chemists to ensure we are doing the right thing,” continued Rands.

ecostore has treated this oversight seriously. Once discovered the company took immediate action to adjust the laundry powder to bring the pH back to intended levels. The hardworking staff and independent research chemists worked on this problem day and night to complete the slight formulation readjustment in just four days.

A testament to their skills is that ecostore’s laundry powder has retained its properties as one of the best in Australasia for grey water discharge from laundry machine into the environment (notably being number one in alkalinity compared to all other Australasian Front Loader powders). And unlike other laundry powders, ecostore continues to not use skin and allergy irritating ingredients such as Enzymes, Optical Brighteners and Perfumes.

“Integrity and honesty are core values of ecostore. That’s why we’ve taken all steps possible to fix this technical infringement to make sure our laundry powder re-complies.

“One of the advantages of being a small business like ours is the ability we have to respond immediately and effectively to a situation such as this. Production of the amended formulation began today and will be on the shelf within the week.

“Our breach is at the very minor end of the scale and not a public safety issue, but it’s important to ecostore that we get things back on track,” said Rands.
