The Ever Changing Face Of Car Stereo Equipment
The Ever Changing Face Of Car Stereo Equipment
The
automobile as we know it was not invented in a single day by
a single inventor. The history of the automobile reflects an
evolution that took place worldwide. It is estimated that
over 100,000 patents created the modern automobile. However,
we can point to the many firsts that occurred along the way.
Starting with the first theoretical plans for a motor
vehicle that had been drawn up by both Leonardo da Vinci and
Isaac Newton.
In 1769, the very first self-propelled road
vehicle was a military tractor powered by steam invented by
French engineer and mechanic, Nicolas Joseph Cugnot.
So why do so many history books say that the automobile was invented by either Gottlieb Daimler or Karl Benz? It is because both Daimler and Benz invented highly successful and practical gasoline powered vehicles that ushered in the age of modern automobiles. Daimler and Benz invented cars that looked and worked like the cars we use today.
As the
horse and carriage began to disappear around the year 1900,
and with the advent of mass production petrol driven cars,
thanks to Henry Ford, we saw the huge uptake in the
“horseless carriage”.
With every year came
improvements for safety and comfort including pumatic tyres,
automatic gear boxes and the car radio for news and
entertainment while travelling.
From the bulky valve to solid state transistors in around fifty years; it was the start of the electronics revolution. From solid state to integrated circuits meant miniaturisation for solid state car electronics and the advent of radio cassette players followed closely by the compact disc.
Now, Hi Fi was able to be listened to while on the move. Beams of light now read information embedded into a plastic disk, and with no physical contact reproduced music and speech with a clarity never before known.
From CD players to memory sticks and mass storage devices in less than five years, so now we have the iPod revolution along with the ability to compress and store masses of information for use in MP3 CD players, DVD’s and car audio equipment.
Although Ian at Auckland Mobile Car Stereo can not be seen as contributing to the advent of the car stereo revolution, he has gained a wealth of experience and knowledge in his 35 years within the industry, and his ability to maintain and repair all car stereo equipment through its many evolutionary changes seems second to none. Work can be done at your home or work, on site in Auckland, with same day service, or couriered direct to the workshop where most repairs take less than 48Hrs.
As cars, their dash configurations and electronics change, matching car stereo systems to todays modern vehicle becomes more of an art requiring specialist skills.
