New faces bring wide expertise to IMNZ Board

New faces bring wide-ranging expertise to IMNZ Board

Independent Music New Zealand, the trade body which looks after New Zealand’s independent record labels and distributors, has revealed the new team who will steer the organisation for the next year.

Mark Kneebone (Tardus Music) remains as Chair, and he is joined by new Deputy Chair Sarah Crowe, who hails from Wellington and represents The Black Seeds Ltd. New additions to the Board are Andy Murnane (Dawn Raid), Stephen O’Hoy (Digital Rights Management) and Brendan Vucich (Parachute Music); they join incumbent Board members Callum August (Dirty Records), Dean Cameron (Elevenfiftyseven Records) and Scott Muir (Dunedinmusic.com).

IMNZ farewells from the Board Joost Langeveld (Reliable Recordings), Ben Howe (Arch Hill Recordings) (both of whom previously held the position of Deputy Chair) and Jonathan Hughes (Mana Music). We’d like to say a heartfelt thank you to each of them for the experience and insight they brought to their time on the Board; they have contributed their unique skills to many of IMNZ’s recent projects.

Chair Mark Kneebone says, “As we head into another turbulent year for the music industry we are incredibly lucky to have the depth of talent on the IMNZ board that we do to add their expertise and vision to helping create a better environment for both labels and artists operating in New Zealand.”

Ben Howe may have stepped aside from the Board but he has not left the building - he joins IMNZ as its new Business Development Manager, a position previously held by Damian Vaughan, who is now with APRA. Ben brings with him many years of experience as director of Arch Hill Recordings and Mystery Girl Presents.

Kneebone says of this appointment, “IMNZ has been incredibly lucky to secure the services of Ben Howe, a veteran operator who has a fine record in the music industry and who brings with him a wealth of knowledge and expertise. I really look forward to working with him on the challenges that lay ahead over the next 12 months.”
