Who Is Your Role Model?

Who Is Your Role Model?

No longer is the saying “it’s who you know” entirely true when seeking a path to victory. It’s now “which website do you know”. Purefutures.co.nz, launched in April, has had 527 unique visions and over 9,200 registrations of Kiwis with great unique ideas or inventions, all looking for help to take the next step.

A fashion label using only pure fabrics, the establishment of a volunteer ambulance service, handcrafted bikes, Kiwi designed solar baches, rooftop gardens, HD webcams, future Olympians and wannabe world champions, restoration of historical buildings, the world’s fastest sailing kayaks. These are just a selection of visions uploaded to Pure Futures. These visions are being rewarded with money and access to high profile mentors – a group that has grown since launch to be a who’s who of our brightest talent.

Kiwi fashion has taken off in recent years and therefore Steinlager Pure has enlisted the help of the brains behind two outstanding New Zealand clothing brands, Huffer and Stolen Girlfriends Club, to mentor those visionaries who want to carve their own path in fashion on the world stage. They are on board to introduce them to the right suppliers, advise them on designs and pass on the key lessons they have made.

Jamie McLellan is a product designer who has designed for manufacturers in Australasia, the UK, Europe, Asia and America, working on a wide range of projects, from furniture and lighting to windsurfing equipment, coffins, kayaks and more. Jamie is offering a one-on-one session to review an up-and-coming designer's idea, and assist with mocking up and prototyping design ideas. Jamie has a network of professional resources, including those specialising in CAD, engineering, visualisation and rapid prototyping which he can put the visionary in touch with.

Duncan Blair has made a reputation as a talented marketing communications strategist in his role as Head of Brand and Communications at Orcon. As a mentor, Duncan will be offering the opportunity to spend a half-day workshop session with him to develop a brand and communications strategy.

The ICEHOUSE is a business-growth centre that includes business-growth programmes, a business incubator for start-ups, and New Zealand's largest group of Angel Investors. Now teaming up with Steinlager Pure, the ICEHOUSE will help selected visionaries by offering a two-hour workshop with an Ice Angel investor and two ICEHOUSE experts.

York Spencer is from EASTPRECINCT, which provides export-growth solutions for the Asia markets, specialising in market planning, market access and market development for New Zealand businesses in the Asia region. York is a New Zealander with more than 14 years' international commercial and marketing management experience and can offer his expertise to visionaries trying to break into the Asian markets.

Shaun Quincey is doing his bit by lending a hand to visionaries who need advice on how to achieve their sporting, exploration and adventure dreams. Shaun is only the second New Zealander to successfully row across the Tasman, following in his father's footsteps some 33 years earlier.

With some great mentors involved and up to $70,000 still up for grabs now is the time to join the growing community and register your future vision at http://www.purefutures.co.nz

Gordon Campbell: On the Budget’s Spreadsheet Victories

It wasn’t as if expectations were sky high, exactly. Chances are, it was always more likely that we’d be seeing Bigfoot rampage through the Beehive lock-up than catch a glimpse of a credible growth agenda from this government. More >>

Greexit, Eurogeddon... watch out... flight to quality and all that. Follow your instincts. The NZ Debt Management Office has been so surprised at the unprecedentedly low interest rates that it can borrow at that it has already entirely pre-funded the 2013 fiscal deficit - all $8 billion of it! Pattrick Smellie Comment: Doddling along the best we can hope forCriticising Budgets for lacking vision or imagination is like shooting fish in a barrel, but even so, this year's Budget again feels like a missed opportunity. Perhaps it's the intrusion of real world needs that means the government couldn't make better political use of the $558.8 million it expects to gather in its first partial asset sale. More >>
