Herd Homes Appoints Professional Directors

Herd Homes Appoints Professional Directors to Board

Herd Homes Ltd, the state‐of‐the‐art dairy cow and beef cattle animal husbandry company, today announced the appointment of two professional directors to its board, Dr Andrew West and Mr John Birch.

Tom Pow, co‐founder of the company, says, “I am delighted to be able to announce these two appointments. Dr West and Mr Birch are experienced individuals that will bring strength and credibility to Herd Homes.”

Andrew West is best known for his leadership of AgResearch over the last six years. AgResearch science continues to underpin the development of Herd Homes’ premium animal welfare and environmental technology. While, John Birch is best known for founding and growing an extremely successful agritechnology company that commercialised dairy factory technologies which, along with his business partners, he turned global.

Herd Homes is an entirely New Zealand‐developed and owned agritechnology, now going global. Herd Homes produces sophisticated barns that house cows and cattle for limited periods of time during a day.

This brings with it the advantages of conserving productive soils and pastures, reducing pollution associated with dairy and beef pastoral farming, and improving animal health, welfare and calving. The technology also increases farm flexibility and reduces demands made on farm staff.

“Put simply, this is the future of pastoral dairy farming,” says Dr West. “It is time for dairy and beef farmers in this country to focus more on profit rather than on cost. The future is with this sophisticated animal management technology complemented by intelligent supplementary feeding of cows and cattle, and really clever fertiliser utility.”

Mr Birch says, “Herd Homes has a tremendous future, with demand from overseas farmers beginning to take off. In a world asking for more dairy and beef foods, as well as lower environmental impacts, this homegrown technology could not be better positioned for growth. It is a genuinely exciting time for Herd Homes”.
