AMP pledges support to help Christchurch recover

AMP pledges support to help Christchurch get back on its feet

The AMP Foundation has announced it will donate $100,000 to the Christchurch Mayoral Relief Fund to assist the people of the city in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake.

The AMP Foundation will also dollar-match fundraising by AMP Advisers across the country to help get the city back on its feet, up to $50,000.

In addition, the New Zealand Financial Services business will dollar-match donations from AMP employees and Advisers, up to $100,000.

AMP Financial Services New Zealand Managing Director, Jack Regan, said: “AMP has a track record of supporting the communities we are a part of for more than 155 years and we will stand by the people of Christchurch during this difficult time.

“AMP Advisers and employees are doing an amazing job to help customers start to rebuild, many of who have been personally impacted by the disaster,” Mr. Regan said.

AMP is finding other ways to provide much needed support, including:

§ simplifying the process for accessing early withdrawals for financial hardship;

§ working with partners to ensure the spike in claims and customer activity is managed effectively;

§ AMP Homeloans is offering Christchurch customers a 3-month repayment holiday (including business banking loans) and a $1000 overdraft or increase of $1000 to their personal overdraft or revolving credit facility;

§ AMP Capital Shopping centres throughout New Zealand have set up collection points for monetary and physical donations like blankets and non-perishable food, that will be distributed by the New Zealand Salvation Army;

§ providing a financial support package for locally affected AMP Adviser Businesses.

“For many it will take months, even years, for life to get back to normal. AMP is all about helping people to protect their families when things go wrong, reassuring and advising them, and that’s what we’re doing now.”

To make a general insurance claim, AMP customers should contact their AMP Adviser in the first instance or phone 0508 806 244, option 5. All other AMP enquiries, please phone 0800 808 267 or check amp.co.nz for more information.
