HP and Microsoft pop-up store opens today

HP and Microsoft pop-up store opens today

HP and Microsoft have partnered to set-up a temporary pop-up store in central Auckland. Officially called Ten O’Connell, the store will open on Friday 29 October for approximately eight weeks and is designed to showcase the latest in HP and Microsoft technology.

Paul Boshoff, General Manager for the Personal Systems Group (PSG), HP New Zealand, says the store will allow people test drive all the latest HP and Microsoft products.

“Given that Christmas is fast-approaching; we wanted to create a space that gave shoppers the chance to experience our technology in a fun environment. Rather than reading about what our technology can do, the pop-up store provides people with the opportunity to try things for themselves – without feeling any pressure to purchase products at the time.

“Ten O’Connell builds on HP’s recent marketing activity around lifestyle and fashion and we hope this new experiential zone will appeal to people who want the best in style and innovation,” says Mr Boshoff.

Some of the HP products on show include the HP 3D Envy, HP Touchsmart PC, and HP Pavilion Notebooks as well as HP’s new ePrint printing range. Microsoft will also have Xbox Kinect set-up for people to play with.

“Microsoft and HP have collaborated on a number of projects both globally and locally, and Ten O’Connell is just another example of how we’re trying to bring technology to life for lifestyle and technology-conscious kiwi’s,” says Paul Muckleston Managing Director for Microsoft New Zealand.

The pop up store is a first for HP in New Zealand.

“We’re constantly pushing the boundaries and we think activities like Ten O’Connell will continue to cement HP as a key player in the technology and lifestyle space,” says Mr Boshoff.

At night, projections onto the store will keep it visible to passer-by’s who will be able to control the colour of the lighting simply by tweeting to @hppopshop. Ten O’Connell can also be viewed live at www.colourme.tv

Ten O’Connell will be open to the public for eight weeks. Throughout the eight-week period, there will be activities taking place in-store such as complimentary training sessions (see notes for editors), along with a weekly draw every Friday for prizes. To be eligible for the draw, people simply have to visit the store and enter their details. The first weekly draw will take place on Friday 5 November.
