Harcourts USA appointments announced, with New Zealander as CEO

7 December 2010:
Harcourts, originally established in New Zealand and most recently launched in the United States of America, has announced a number of key appointments in America following its joint venture with California-based Altera Real Estate.

New Zealander Aaron Hodson, formerly the International Franchise Development Manager of Harcourts International, has been appointed as Harcourts USA Chief Executive Officer.

Originally from Northland, the award-winning realtor will oversee the growth and development of the Harcourts brand in America, as well as managing the day-to-day operations of the business there.

Meanwhile American real estate industry veteran Gary Thomas, the co-founder of Altera Real Estate, has been appointed as Chairman of the Harcourts USA joint venture. Since starting his real estate career in 1976, Mr Thomas has become one of the most successful and highly regarded real estate professionals in America.

Altera Real Estate co-founders Dennis and Colleen Badagliacco, who established their first real estate firm in 1980 in California and have since become one of the most dynamic real estate duos in the state, have been announced as partners in the group’s US joint venture.

Harcourts International Managing Director Mike Green says he is thrilled to announce these appointments, which he is confident will lead to success for Harcourts’ joint venture in America.

“This is an exciting time for our organisation and I believe we have assembled an exceptional team to head up our US operations. I am confident that with their level of combined industry experience and knowledge will serve us very well as a group,” he says.
