Harcourts' Hamilton franchise honoured

Harcourts' Hamilton franchise honoured

18 January 2010: Harcourts' Hamilton franchise was honoured today, with the owners receiving a special award in recognition of their company's 20-year membership of the Harcourts group.

Monarch Real Estate Ltd was one of the first companies to acquire a Harcourts franchise when Harcourts Group Ltd first introduced the franchise model and yesterday a special event was held to celebrate the 20- year anniversary of founder Davinder Singh taking that step.

Mr Singh, who joined the real estate industry in the mid-1980s after being a successful restaurateur, says he is proud to be a member of the Harcourts group and of the achievements of his team over the past two decades.

"In 1989 the company I was working for as a branch manager rebranded to Harcourts and when the following year the opportunity arose to buy a Harcourts franchise myself I seized it - and it's a decision I've never regretted," he says.

"Harcourts has gone from strength to strength in the past 20 years, becoming New Zealand's largest real estate group and a growing force internationally. Consequently we have a strong brand and the group can also provide industry-leading technology, training and support - which has assisted our company to recruit and retain excellent people and helped enable all of us to achieve success."

Harcourts New Zealand CEO Hayden Duncan says Monarch Real Estate Ltd, which operates five branches across Hamilton, is one of Harcourts' most successful franchises and is a credit to co-owners Davinder Singh and Brian King, who has been a partner in the business since 2004.

"Both successful sales consultants and managers before becoming Harcourts business owners, their combined knowledge, skills and leadership have helped them to establish a consistently high-performing multi-office franchise.

"In addition to their success in business, the pair are also devoted family men and huge supporters of the Hamilton community through their contributions to The Harcourts Foundation and direct support to local groups and charities. We are privileged to have them and their business in the Harcourts group."
