Raydar Picks up Virgin Blue Group of Airlines

Raydar has picked up the Virgin Blue Group of Airlines account in New Zealand, which will see it handle advertising in New Zealand and Pacific Island markets for Pacific Blue and Polynesian Blue airlines.

The agency’s appointment was part of a regional pitch that included Australia, the United States and New Zealand. Clemenger BBDO in Sydney is the lead agency with support from Clemenger BBDO Brisbane, BBDO West in the US and Raydar in New Zealand.

Raydar managing director Darryl McClay said he is thrilled to be appointed as the New Zealand agency.

“We instantly felt a good connection with the client and love the brand and what it stands for. We’re looking forward to helping Pacific Blue and Polynesian Blue create more success in a highly competitive market.”

Virgin Blue Group of Airlines’ GM Marketing, Michelle Lee, said Raydar’s considerable experience in managing both FMCG and service brands was impressive.

"Airlines operate in an increasingly competitive environment and Darryl and his team understand that. We believe they offer both the creativity and pragmatism that's needed on an account like ours.

Raydar has considerable experience in creating multi channel campaigns, retail activation and promotional activity for an impressive client base. Pacific Blue will become one of Raydar’s top five clients in a portfolio that includes Frucor Beverages, KFC, Pizza Hut, Kellogg’s, The Laminex Group, Appliance Connexion (100%), Wattie’s and Treasury Wine Estate among others.

Raydar Creative merged with Alphabet Soup at the beginning of 2010 and has grown from strength to strength under the new management team with the support of the Clemenger Group.

“We are in an exciting phase of the business. Winning Pacific Blue is the icing on the cake and will allow us to showcase our full skill set from our creative to our operational ability,” said Darryl McClay.

The appointment is effective immediately with work for the Virgin Blue Group of Airlines already underway.
