Nineteen new homes sold in 20 months in Papakura/Franklin in recessionary environment

Papakura - March 21 - Rod and Jess Lalich have created a winning formula with their Generation Homes business in the Franklin/Papakura district.

Youth, enthusiasm and local knowledge is a successful combination for the couple - their Generation Homes business has sold 19 new homes in the last 20 months despite the recessionary environment.

"Our aim is to work with local suppliers so that as much money stays in the local business community as possible," says Rod Lalich.

Generation Homes Papakura/Franklin is a relative newcomer to the region. However its parent company - Generation Homes - was established in Tauranga in 1997. Nationwide, over the last year, the company has bucked the trend in the real estate recession, handing over approximately 170 homes to new owners across New Zealand, and it expects to triple that number this year.

Lalich attributes this success to Generation Homes' rigorous quality control and strong customer and supplier relationships.

Rod Lalich is an architectural designer and he concentrates on the sales and building co-ordination side of the business, while Jess focuses on the customer service and administration.

They met at Rosehill College, Papakura, and established Generation Homes Papakura/Franklin in mid-2009.

The new showhome at 6 Fountain Avenue, Karaka Lakes, was designed by Rod. 'The Thoroughbred' is the first two-story showhome for Generation Homes nationwide and it was built near to the New Zealand Bloodstock sales complex.

"We are seeing a lot of enquiries from people wanting to move to Karaka Lakes because of the bigger sections. The Thoroughbred house has broad appeal for people who are looking for a home with good use of space, an indoor-outdoor flow, four bedrooms, two living rooms and a separate laundry," Rod says.

It is fenced and landscaped and the letter box is ready for the buyer's details to be added. "What you see is what you get - an affordable and attainable house, ready for you to move in," Jess says.

Generation Homes has a fixed price for every house built and a guaranteed completion date.

"We have smashed the myth that building always has costs overruns and time delays," Rod says.

Generation Homes is building another showhome in the Franklin District at Patumahoe. The single-story, split-level, colonial style home will commence construction next month.

To help make the Kiwi dream of a new home affordable, Generation Homes has joined with recognised lenders to create a unique funding package to reduce prospective owners' deposit requirements to as little as 5%. Ends
