DB Breweries Introduces Price Increase to Market

DB Breweries Introduces Price Increase to Market

DB Breweries has advised its customers that it will be implementing a 4.7% increase on average, across all our pack brands (beer, RTDS and cider) effective 27th June, 2011. The brewer is also increasing the price of its tap brands by 4.1% from the same date.

DB Breweries’ managing director, Brian Blake, says the increases are the first for the company this year and follow a significant rise in transportation and production costs.

“We had planned to introduce a price increase in April but decided to delay doing so in light of the challenges the market, especially those in Canterbury, were facing at that time. While we appreciate the environment remains testing, regrettably we can no longer absorb mounting transportation and production costs. Adding further to this financial burden is of course the forthcoming increase in Excise Tax on 1st July.”

Mr Blake says DB is committed to continuing to invest in its strategic brands and developing product ranges that fulfil changing business and consumer requirements.

The company is also preparing for its sponsorship of Rugby World Cup 2011 through its premium brand, Heineken, and hopeful aligned operators and retailers throughout the country will benefit from an increase in sales due to heightened brand awareness.
