Embassy to launch finest in cinema experiences

14 October 2011 - The Embassy continues to offer the finest way to experience movies in Wellington, with plans to develop its most luxurious offering yet ‘The Embassy Deluxe’.

EVENT Cinemas, the operators of The Embassy, sought out the best in cinema architects Indyk who conceived a cinema design that will be unique to the New Zealand market and in keeping with the stunning historical beauty of The Embassy. EVENT Cinemas have brought together the best design team, technology consultants and F&B expertise plan that will launch this new experience in early December.

The Embassy Deluxe will be situated below the main auditorium and will feature a contemporary bar and lounge area, two 70 seat premium cinemas with custom made leather chairs and the latest in digital sound and screen technology. EVENT Cinemas’ General Manager New Zealand, Carmen Switzer says to enhance the overall experience, a new food and beverage menu has been designed to complete a great night out.

“Whether you’re looking for a quality night out at the movies, a private party or a corporate function venue The Embassy and new Embassy Deluxe theatres will offer the Wellington market a great new entertainment option.”

Not only will The Embassy continue to screen the finest in New Zealand and global films, but with the newly installed satellite technology, we will also bring to Wellington a range of alternative entertainment experiences as diverse as ‘live opera’ to ‘major sporting events’. The Embassy will truly be the home of the best in global entertainment in the heart of Wellington city.

EVENT Cinemas’ General Manager Entertainment – Australia and New Zealand, Jane Hastings says The Embassy is New Zealand’s home of fine film.

“The Embassy has hosted some of the world’s most prestigious premieres. We are delighted to invest in this initiative to introduce the latest in cinema experiences in the Wellington market utilising the best in design, F&B and cinema technology expertise to compliment the grandeur of The Embassy. Wellington customers will not only be able to watch a broader range of film at The Embassy but will be to see a selection of the best global events via satellite.”

Peter Brennan, Manager, Property Management from Wellington City Council says it’s always a pleasure to see existing buildings being developed in keeping with their style. The Embassy Deluxe cinemas will be great evidence of this.

Work on the theatres is already underway with a VIP opening scheduled for 8 December 2011.
