New 360 Discovery Bus Shuttle Service For Coromandel Ferry

New 360 Discovery Bus Shuttle Service For Coromandel Ferry

Auckland, 10 November 2011 – 360 Discovery Ltd is pleased to announce the operation of a new bus shuttle service connecting with its Auckland to Coromandel ferry service.

The 360 Discovery ferry service currently operates from Auckland to Coromandel (via Waiheke Island and Rotoroa Island). The new bus service will meet the ferry arriving and departing out of Hannaford’s Wharf, a ten kilometre journey from Coromandel Town, and transport customers to the centre of the township, which is included at no additional cost, as part of the ferry service. Customers are encouraged to avoid pick-ups/drop-offs at Hannaford’s Wharf, to avoid traffic congestion, and to instead use the bus shuttle service.

The ferry timetable has also been adjusted so that customers of InterCity Coachlines and Magic Bus can now connect to these services upon arrival into Hannaford’s Wharf. This is part of 360 Discovery’s wider objective to make it easier for visitors to travel around the Coromandel Peninsula by encouraging a more integrated transport network.

The operation of the bus shuttle service is being managed in partnership with Coromandel Adventures, a new tour operator in Coromandel Town that also offers a range of day trips and short break options for visitors including walks, tours and activities.

Tony Galloway, Manager of 360 Discovery considers the ferry service has huge potential as a gateway for Aucklanders and visitors travelling to the Coromandel and is excited about the new partnership with Coromandel Adventures and bus operation. “While patronage on the ferry service is not currently meeting expectation, we recognise that there is an untapped potential for attracting overseas and domestic visitors, as well as Coromandel residents and bach owners, to travel on 360 Discovery’s 2 hour scenic cruise across the Hauraki Gulf. Our aim for the coming months is to raise awareness of the ferry service as well as the appeal of the Coromandel Peninsula as a destination, to help secure the future viability of the ferry service. With our new bus shuttle service and partnership with a tourism focused business, there is a real opportunity to benefit tourism on the Peninsula.”

Greexit, Eurogeddon... watch out... flight to quality and all that. Follow your instincts. Pattrick Smellie Comment: Doddling along the best we can hope forCriticising Budgets for lacking vision or imagination is like shooting fish in a barrel, but even so, this year's Budget again feels like a missed opportunity. Perhaps it's the intrusion of real world needs that means the government couldn't make better political use of the $558.8 million it expects to gather in its first partial asset sale. More >>
