Bonus Bonds looks to future as 500th prize draw lifts payouts past $2bn
Fund focused on maintaining attractive prizes amid low interest rate environment
As prize payouts hit a milestone of $2 billion after 500 monthly draws, Bonus Bonds is focussing on maintaining an attractive prize offering despite the growing challenges posed by lower returns on investments globally.
Commenting on the eve of Bonus Bonds’ 500th monthly prize draw, Head of Bonus Bonds Glenn Stevenson said the current investment environment was making it more challenging than ever to maintain attractive returns.
“For over 40 years, Bonus Bonds has held a unique place in the New Zealand financial scene, awarding millions of prizes worth over $2 billion, while investing in low-risk deposits. Bondholders tell us this unique offer of potentially life-changing prizes is the key to their enduring attraction to Bonus Bonds.”
Bonus Bonds currently awards more than 200,000 cash prizes every month – including no less than one $1 million prize, two $100,000 prizes and three $50,000 prizes, plus multiple prizes of $20 to $5,000.
Glenn Stevenson adds: “We are now in a lower interest rate investment environment. But we are committed to maintaining an attractive prize offering by continuing to invest in a variety of low-risk interest-bearing deposits and bonds, which have long formed the core of the Bonus Bonds portfolio.
“In this way we will ensure that future investors can continue to share in the unique opportunity provided by Bonus Bonds, to save and have chances to win life-changing tax-free cash prizes.”
