Pulse Utilities Reaches 30,000 Customers

Pulse Utilities New Zealand Limited is pleased to announce it is supplying electricity to over 30,000 customers across New Zealand by providing Kiwis with a fair deal on their power bill.

Pulse Utilities Chief Executive Officer, Dene Biddlecombe, is confident that Just Energy will continue gaining customers throughout 2012. He says that “Analysis by international Expert Professor Frank Wolak has indicated that previous strong financial performances by Meridian Energy, Contact Energy, Genesis Energy and Mighty River Power were due to soft regulation by Government which did not sufficiently restrain the companies’ market power”. However, the wholesale market will be more accessible to small independent players like Pulse when changes to the electricity market set out by former Minister of Energy and Resources Gerry Brownlee begin in earnest later this year.

In mid 2010, Pulse launched Just Energy which offers a fair deal and real value to everyday New Zealanders. Just Energy’s development was in response to market feedback and reinforced the company’s’ strategy of bringing increased competition to the electricity market. Pulse Utilities believes that the number one concern for most customers is lower prices and the Just Energy brand continues to grow strongly with its fair deal and real value offering.

Pulse Utilities is listed on the New Zealand Stock Exchange. It is majority owned by a South Island electricity network Company Buller Electricity and is the fastest growing independent electricity retailer in the country.

Pattrick Smellie Comment: Doddling along the best we can hope forCriticising Budgets for lacking vision or imagination is like shooting fish in a barrel, but even so, this year's Budget again feels like a missed opportunity.
