Older & Bolder joins Mainland Press

Older & Bolder joins Mainland Press

Older & Bolder, a popular national lifestyle publication for the 50 plus age group, will be relaunched in March by its new owner, Christchurch’s only locally owned and operated media group, Mainland Press.

It will be published in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch with a targeted readership of over 160,000 people nationwide.

Mainland Press Managing Director, Pier Smulders, says “We are delighted to be adding Older & Bolder to our stable of media products. Originally a Christchurch publication which grew from its local roots to a nationwide presence, we look forward to providing a great product for our readers nationwide, and to provide our advertisers with a refreshed and exciting option for reaching their customers in this important age group.

“Plans to expand and re-energise Older & Bolder are in place for this growing segment of the marketplace. We have identified that the over 50 demographic is growing, has disposable income, leisure time available and are increasingly becoming technology savvy.”

Mainland Press General Manager of sales, Peter Hampton, says “Older & Bolder adds another powerful option for our advertisers. Highly targeted and offering competitive rates, we look forward to helping our clients reach this lucrative group of readers that hold up to half of the country’s disposable income”.

Under Mainland Press ownership, Older & Bolder will deliver news and features that are current and carry a broad appeal such as travel, lifestyle, health, entertainment and technology and finance. As part of the re-launch the publication will have a gloss cover and a strategic and targeted distribution, incorporating shopping malls, food and entertainment venues and providers in both the health and service sectors.

Mainland Press publishes the Mainland Press newspaper, the Bay Harbour News, Best Motorbuys, Buy Sell & Exchange, CC Magazine and websites and is launching the Selwyn View newspaper on February 23. After the February 22 earthquake last year, CTV moved into the Mainland Press building and the two companies are working together in Christchurch as part of the city’s recovery efforts.

Pattrick Smellie Comment: Doddling along the best we can hope forCriticising Budgets for lacking vision or imagination is like shooting fish in a barrel, but even so, this year's Budget again feels like a missed opportunity. Perhaps it's the intrusion of real world needs that means the government couldn't make better political use of the $558.8 million it expects to gather in its first partial asset sale. More >>
