High Calibre Candidates for Chamber of
Commerce Board
Wellington Employers’ Chamber of
Commerce President Richard Stone has welcomed the good
number of top-quality candidates who have put their names
forward to stand as directors of the city’s premier
business organisation.
Eight candidates are seeking
appointment to the five available Board positions.
“It
is fantastic to see such an exciting range of candidates.
Whoever wins will complement the skills of the existing
board members well,” said Mr Stone.
“The interest in
these Board positions is a great endorsement of the work of
the Wellington Employers’ Chamber and the importance of
giving a voice to Wellington businesses.
“Activities
undertaken by the Chamber include providing networking
opportunities, training and employer services and promoting
policies that reflect the interests of the region’s
business community and development of the Wellington
economy.
“Voting will take place at the forthcoming AGM.
All financial members have an opportunity to vote and we
encourage them to attend the AGM and do so,” Mr Stone
concluded.

The NZ Debt Management Office has been so surprised at the unprecedentedly low interest rates that it can borrow at that it has already entirely pre-funded the 2013 fiscal deficit - all $8 billion of it! Pattrick Smellie Comment: Doddling along the best we can hope forCriticising Budgets for lacking vision or imagination is like shooting fish in a barrel, but even so, this year's Budget again feels like a missed opportunity. Perhaps it's the intrusion of real world needs that means the government couldn't make better political use of the $558.8 million it expects to gather in its first partial asset sale. More >>
