Australian workers extend helping hand to Ports of

Ports of Auckland workers received a massive boost today from Sydney, Australia, for their campaign for secure jobs.
Maritime Union National President Garry Parsloe says a delegation of workers had reported to the national conference of the Maritime Union of Australia.
The conference, attended by hundreds of Australian maritime workers and union representatives from Australia and worldwide, pledged total support to their fellow workers at Ports of Auckland.
Mr Parsloe says a resolution of support was carried by the meeting and a major donation was also made to the Ports of Auckland workers.
"This is fantastic news and New Zealand workers appreciate the great support of our Australian and international friends."
Mr Parsloe says the backing means that the Auckland port dispute is now on the global agenda for unions.
Port management had left the reputation of the port in tatters.
He says the current strike could be ended if the company dropped its plans to contract out labour.
