Sistema® Expands
Operation
Sistema® a household name synonymous with high quality, affordable, New Zealand made storage containers has expanded its operations to fuel development and meet consumer demand both locally and internationally.
The staggering 46 per cent growth in exporting and 33 per cent year-on-year progression of Sistema® led to the development of a new $7.5m purpose built production facility officially opened by Prime Minister John Key.
The new 6000sqm facility will
enable Sistema® to double its production
and create 50 new jobs over the next two years and up to 100
jobs in its five year plan.
Sistema® Managing Director Brendan Lindsay says, “This investment in a new facility cements our commitment to stay in New Zealand and manufacture in New Zealand. We are all very proud to produce a product that not only competes in the global arena but in many cases is the market leader.”
A testament to the 100 per cent Kiwi owned and operated company is the fact that every 1.3 seconds a Sistema® product is purchased somewhere around the globe.
Sistema® currently produces its entire product line in their 13,000sqm factory in Penrose, Auckland, employing over 300 staff and exporting to over 22 countries around the world. Sistema® is on track to post a $100m turnover this year, of which exports equate for 80 per cent.
The company, winner of the 2012 New Zealand International Business Awards (Best Use of Design in International Business) and a recent winner at the Exporter of the Year Awards. Sistema® has an 80 per cent market share of New Zealand's food storage market, 44 per cent in Australia and is experiencing significant growth in Britain, South America and the United States.
