Te Awanui Hukapak gains another Seeka seat

Te Awanui Huka Pak announced today that one of its directors has been voted onto the board of New Zealand’s largest kiwifruit grower.

John Burke, a current independent director of the Tauranga-based and Maori-owned kiwifruit business, has been voted on to the Seeka board of directors, said Te Awanui Huka Pak chairman Neil Te Kani.

“We are delighted and congratulate John on this fantastic result. It is great to have somebody of John’s caliber on the Seeka board and with such a strong endorsement of 96% of the shareholders,” said Mr Te Kani.

Mr Burke joins Taari Nicholas, also a Te Awanui Hukapak director on Seeka.

Te Awanui Huka Pak holds the largest share of 17% in Seeka – a NZX listed company which is the largest post-harvest entity in the kiwifruit industry supplying about 25% of the Zespri’s global supply.

As a result of Mr Burke’s Seeka appointment he has now resigned from Te Awanui Hukapak and been replaced by Bruce Cameron.

Bruce is a large kiwifruit grower in his own right and is also a director of Zespri and Zespri International Limited.

“We know that John’s huge contribution to Te Awanui will not be lost and Bruce will bring a new dynamic, diversity and connectivity to the board table.”
