Hot Red Hawke’s Bay heading to Sydney to woo restaurateurs

Hot Red Hawke’s Bay heading to Sydney to woo restaurateurs

A contingent of 14 Hawke’s Bay wineries will be presenting enforce to over 200 members of Sydney’s hospitality industry in a bid to impress them with the quality and diversity of the region’s wines.

The Hot Red Hawke’s Bay team will be commanding the maximum number of tables to fill the biggest of four themed rooms that make up the inaugural New Zealand Winegrowers On-Premise Show in Sydney on 23 July.

“Most of our Hawke’s Bay winery exhibitors are taking advantage of the opportunity to show six wines from their winery and they haven’t just selected the most commercial wines. We are taking a selection of Hawke’s Bay’s best and most representative wines with a range of Hawke’s Bay red blends, Chardonnay and Syrah,” says Lyn Bevin, executive officer with Hawke’s Bay Winegrowers, who will be attending.

“I can guarantee we will have the most diverse selection of wines at the event.”

A representative from each winery or for some, their Sydney distributor, will be on hand to talk to key influencers and decision makers from that city’s trade who are looking to discover new wines for their respective clientele.

The Hot Red Hawke’s Bay event is no stranger to Australian shores. Two years ago, it took place in Melbourne and Sydney with the assistance of funding from New Zealand Trade and Enterprise.

“Our aim is to continue with the event in international markets, but due to the global financial crisis and more challenging times, we have not been able to secure sufficient levels of participation to go on our own. Being part of the NZWG programme allows us to get there but still present a regional story focusing on our wine strengths,” says Ms Bevin.

“Initial interest from the trade has been high and past attendees of the Hawke’s Bay Sydney and Melbourne events are adamant they want us back.”
