Judy Bailey gives Western Australia region the big thumbs up

Judy Bailey gives Western Australia region the big thumbs up in new TV Series

New Zealand’s much loved television personality has spent the past few months on a journey of discovery around Australia. Judy’s epic journey will be shared with a New Zealand television audience in a five-part brand new television series ‘Judy Bailey’s Australia’ starting on TV ONE starting this Saturday 16th June at 8.30pm.

Judy’s adventure begins in the extraordinary and diverse state of Western Australia. The starting point for her journey was enjoying the summer climate in Australia’s sunniest capital with a visit up to the Kings Park, the largest inner city park in the world. She then ventures south, exploring the Historic Port of Fremantle before driving to the States South-West, and to Yallingup which means ‘place of love’. Yallingup is appropriately named as we watch Judy fall in love with the beautiful Margaret River Region, famous for its award winning wineries, ancient forests and pristine beaches.

Invigorated by the local cuisine and enjoying the best of Western Australian wines, Judy enjoys the wide range of experiences on offer in Western Australia. Her many and varied adventures include exploring the stunning river and coastal area with the fascinating Sean Blocksidge, from Margaret River Discovery Tours. Sean shared some of his favorite stories and corners of the Margaret River region, including a section of the remote and beautiful 135km Cape to Cape Walk, pictured below.

Judy then visits Cape Lodge, an international luxury boutique hotel in the heart of the Margaret River Wine Country, with its very own vineyard. It was voted in the Top 10 in the World for "Best Food" in 2011 by Conde Nast Traveller, and Judy has a one-on one cooking lesson from the charming and brilliant Executive Chef Tony Howell in his lakeside restaurant.

Judy shared this with us, “What’s not to love about WA? Its real big sky country. Big sky, big landscapes, big characters with big hearts! My time in Western Australia was a revelation. I was surprised by how accessible it is, an easy seven hours direct to Perth. And then, its landscape is ancient, its beaches, sublime, it’s history tangible and fascinating and there are heaps of great experiences to be had. It feels like frontier territory, wedged as it is between the vast landmass of Australia and the endless azure waters of the Indian Ocean. You need to experience it now before the rest of the world finds out what it’s been missing!”

Tune in on Saturday to share the beginning of this fascinating series and Judy’s insight into “Australia beyond the gateway”.
