Jetstar fares to spur on NZ Olympians

• Jetstar will offer 120 domestic fares at $12 for every medal the Kiwi team brings home
• Low fares celebration for Kiwis to get behind the national team
• Preparations ramping up for Jetstar Welcome Home Tour trip to Christchurch

Low fares airline, and New Zealand Olympic Committee partner, Jetstar has today revealed a campaign that will see Kiwi travellers directly benefit from the New Zealand medal haul in London.

For every medal the Kiwis bring home Jetstar will offer 120 seats at $12 across the airline’s domestic network.

Jetstar Australia & New Zealand CEO David Hall said offering the special fares would give Kiwis more reason to celebrate when members of the Olympic team took to the podium.

“We are thrilled to be supporting the New Zealand athletes as they take on the world’s best at the London Olympic Games,” Mr Hall said.

“At the 2008 Games in Beijing the Kiwis brought home nine medals including three gold. We are right behind the team and looking forward to them hopefully hitting double figures so we can offer 1200 seats at $12.

“New Zealand is an important market for Jetstar, we know that our low fares help open up new demand for air travel and we’re proud to stand by the Olympic team and wish them all the best for the Games.”

The $12 fares will be available for sale after the 2012 London Olympic Games and valid for travel on Jetstar’s domestic New Zealand network, which links the major cities of Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and the popular tourist destinations of Queenstown and Dunedin.

Jetstar is also providing travel support for the New Zealand Olympic Team as they share their success with Kiwis in a special Welcome Home Tour on Friday 24 August in Christchurch.

A Jetstar aircraft featuring the New Zealand Olympic logo will fly team members from Auckland to Christchurch for the celebration in Hagley Park.
