Brown Brothers to showcase Prosecco at Auckland Food Show

Brown Brothers to showcase Prosecco at Auckland Food Show

Family-owned Australian winemaker Brown Brothers will showcase two of its most-popular sparkling wines, Prosecco and Cienna Rosso, at the 2012 Auckland Food Show.

Prosecco is already proving to be extremely popular among not only seasoned wine drinkers but those who are new to wine. It’s a sparkling wine that was produced using the Metodo Italiano (Charmat) method, resulting in a less complex, easier to drink style of bubbly than those made methode traditionalle.

“After seeing growing demand for affordable, ‘all occasion’ sparkling wines, we decided to launch Prosecco into New Zealand and have already seen great results,” said fourth generation family member, Katherine Brown. “We’ve worked hard on creating a portfolio of bubblies that meets many price points but always delivers exceptional quality. Prosecco is a prime example of that.”

Prosecco grapes are grown at the Brown Brothers Banskdale vineyard in the upper reaches of the King Valley, Victoria. It’s made to drink young and is delightful on its own or when paired with freshly shucked oysters, Asian-inspired flavoured prawns and sashimi.

Brown Brothers also prides itself on producing new wines that appeal to non-traditional wine drinkers and Cienna Rosso is the latest example of that commitment. This new varietal was developed at the CSIRO Plant Industry by crossing the Spanish grape variety Sumoll with Cabernet Sauvignon.

Cienna Rosso is a vibrant, sparkling red wine with dominating aromas of fresh summer raspberries and strawberries. It’s the perfect match for a variety of situations including a spicy beef curry or a dessert like fresh mango meringue with double cream and a raspberry coulis.

Other wines we’ll be showcasing include Dolcetto and Syrah, Tempranillo, Moscato Rosa, Crouchen Riesling, Everton Red, Merlot and Zibibbo.”
