Palms Shopping Centre Scores Big with Take a Kid to Footy

Media Release August 2012

The Palms Shopping Centre Scores Big
with Take a Kid to Footy Sponsorship

The Palms Shopping Centre is making the conversion from team fan to official sponsor by supporting the Canterbury Rugby Football Union’s Take a Kid to Footy initiative for the Canterbury ITM Cup.

Cantabrians are loyal rugby fans and are often seen wearing red and black with pride. The Take a Kid to Footy initiative is aimed at imparting that rugby spirit and enthusiasm to the next generation of sports fans.

Simon Carter, The Palms’ centre manager and a rugby fan, says, “We are very proud and excited to be sponsoring the Canterbury Rugby Football Union’s Take a Kid to Footy. This is a great way for families to spend time together; enjoying the dynamic sport and hopefully, witnessing some big wins for the Canterbury Rugby team.”

Take a Kid to Footy enables ticketholders to bring one child with them to an ITM rugby game at a great value price of $12.50, plus service fee. There are dedicated Take a Kid to Footy seating areas at the AMI Stadium in Christchurch, so kids can pick up a goody bag packed with two Canterbury Rugby collectors cards, a drink, snacks and other goodies and watch the game with their friends. Anyone who purchases tickets from Ticket Direct at The Palms will receive additional limited edition collector’s cards of their favourite players.

Hamish Riach, CEO of the Canterbury Rugby Football Union, says, “We are delighted to have The Palms on board as the Take a Kid to Footy sponsor for the Canterbury ITM Cup season. Take a Kid to Footy is really important to us because it provides an affordable way for families to get along to the Canterbury games. All bar one of our home games are afternoon games this season, so no doubt Take a Kid to Footy tickets will be in high demand. It will be great to see lots of families coming along to our new home ground, AMI Stadium, to support their team, and we are grateful to The Palms for helping to make that possible.”
