Small Things Every Day Make a Big Difference

Small Things Every Day Make a Big Difference

4 October 2012

ecostore has pulled together an innovative partnership with New World to prove small changes every day can make a big difference to people’s health and their environment.

On Monday October 8, ecostore and New World will launch a novel new “Make a Difference” campaign to improve the health and environments of customers and staff, and give back to the local community.

“People often think it’s too hard to make a difference, but the fact is that simple small changes every day make a huge difference to your well-being and your environment,” says ecostore CEO and founder Malcolm Rands. “People will be surprised at how easy it is.”

The online campaign involves weekly challenges that focus on a different room of the house each week. Packed with simple facts and tips, product discount offers, and the chance to win daily prizes, people can track their progress over the weeks. In an integrated approach, the ecostore team will be on hand to answer questions, and people are encouraged to share their own tips to help each other on the journey.

“We’re really very excited by this campaign,” says Foodstuffs Wellington General Manager George Sutherland. “It’s all about helping each other, we’ve even got our staff getting involved in the programme, they’re excited to be able to learn more and make healthier choices.” The programme is available exclusively to New World customers in the lower North Island region only.

As part of the Make a Difference campaign, ecostore will be giving back to local community causes. The more people who participate, the more ecostore will give back. “As an ethical family based NZ company, giving back is so much a part of who we are,” says Rands. People can nominate their charity of choice in the lower North Island.

“A lot of people want to make healthier choices for themselves and their families,” explains Rands. “But they don’t know where to start, or it can feel too difficult. Over the last 20 years we’ve accumulated a wealth of facts, tips and ideas from our own research and our wonderful customers. We thought it would be nice to share.”

“We’re proud to be participating in a campaign that can make a real difference to our customers’ health, environment and community”, says Sutherland. “And with our own teams involved, we’re anticipating a fair amount of competitive banter in the staff room.”

People can pre-register online at www.makeadifference.co.nz and the campaign launches on Monday 8th October.

The ‘Make a Difference’ campaign is built on three simple steps:

1. Read the daily updates full of simple facts and tips to create a healthier home
2. Take the weekly challenge with the ability to track your progress and download weekly discount vouchers.
3. Share your progress by posting how you’re doing, ask questions and share your ideas to help others.

Key dates:

Phase 1: Begins October 8 and runs until November 18 with a focus on a healthy household (six weeks)
Phase 2: Relaunches January 14 and runs until February 10 with a focus on healthy personal care and baby care (four weeks)
