Champion Award for Telegraph Hill

Media release 18/10/12

Champion Award for Telegraph Hill

The Auckland Easter Show Olive Oil awards have just released their awards for this years judging with Telegraph Hill taking the champion awards for Kalamata olives and tapenade.

These awards are run by the Auckland A&P show team who hold their annual show during Easter, with a specific olive oil and olive competition at this time of year to coincide with the release of the new seasons olive products. A panel of judges evaluate olive oils, olives, and tapenades from all around the country.

“We’ve won awards in previous years for the olives in NZ and Australian competitions, but to get the champion award means this years olives were the best in the show. That’s something the whole team are proud of” says Geoff Crawford.

“Kalamata olives are known for being the most popular eating olive in the world, so its satisfying that we can make champion olives here.’

These award winning products will be available for tasting at the ‘Art in the Olive grove’ event planned as part of the F.A.W.C! festival on November 10th. At this free event people will be able to wander the olive grove and view paintings from local artists Nic Scotland, Rae West and Jules Clark.

“The rustle of the olive grove has something very secret in it” Vincent Van Gogh.

There will be music, food and children’s entertainment so parents can relax under an olive tree and soak up the atmosphere.
