RHAS accredited under the NZPI For Quality Assurance

RHAS is the first plant and machinery valuation firm in Australasia to be accredited under the New Zealand Property Institute for quality assurance.

RHAS has secured the coveted quality assurance rating by The Quality Assurance and Accreditation Scheme for firms in New Zealand (NZ) that provide valuation services and is the first across NZ and Australia to be recognised for plant and machinery valuations.

RHAS managing director, Rodney Hyman said, "The scheme supports firms in their adherence to professional standards. Our customers and stakeholders can have confidence that RHAS as an accredited firm has policies and processes in place to support best practice, as well as having had our valuation processes peer reviewed."

Mr Hyman further explained, "The scheme monitors firm's national practice through the NZ Property Institute which can identify and respond to national issues quickly."

When asked how RHAS approaches quality assurance in the plant and machinery valuations it provides to clients, Mr Hyman said, "The core requirement for a firm gaining accreditation with the Property Institute is producing a robust quality management system demonstrating how the firm complies with professional standards. Here at RHAS we have refined our management system to ensure that quality is at the heart of all that we do."

In response to what this means for clients, Mr Hyman said, "Our existing clients can continue to have faith in our adherence to professional standards, likewise our new clients can now know that under this scheme we are required to conduct annual assessments, take part in onsite accreditation visits, continue to hold appropriate professional indemnity insurance and declare any investigations to the Institute's scheme."

The structure of the scheme was determined over the course of a seven month consultation project and does not overlap the functions of the Valuers Registration Board, the statutory body which investigates complaints against individual valuers.

Mr Hyman who was recently awarded the Order of Australia for his services to the plant and machinery valuation industry further stated, "Finding a plant and machinery valuation company can be a challenging task for many companies around the world, so this among our other accreditations and accolades allows new clients and referrals to have faith that we are the best in this specialised field. We are such a small profession, you will find less than 200 accredited plant and machinery valuers across New Zealand and Australia and yet we have responsibility for valuing around two-thirds of the assets by value of each country’s top 100 companies."

RHAS is a specialist valuer and appraiser of plant, machinery and equipment, from which flows asset management advice and broking services. RHAS’ client base sees it servicing clients throughout Australia, New Zealand, south-east Asia, Europe and the Americas.
