Damian Alexander Winds Broking Professional Of The Year

Wellington adviser Damian Alexander won the ‘Broking Professional of the Year’ Award category of the inaugural 2012 New Zealand Insurance Industry Awards, announced in Auckland on Thursday, 1 November. Damian is a member of the national insurance broking and financial adviser group Plus4 Insurance Solutions (Plus4).

This award recognises the individual broker who best sets the standard of excellent in insurance broking and is awarded to an experienced broker who has consistently demonstrated and proven measurable achievement in his or her broking career.

Plus4 chairman Grant Uridge said, “We congratulate Damian of achieving this prestigious award which was conferred by a panel of national and international industry experts, all leaders in their field. We are not only proud of his accomplishment but also delighted that the Judges selected a Plus4 member as the Broking Professional of the Year.

The inaugural 2012 New Zealand Insurance Industry Awards were jointly run by the Insurance Brokers Association of New Zealand Inc. (IBANZ), the professional body representing the interests of fire and general insurance brokers, risk managers and consumers in New Zealand, and the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF), a leading education, training and professional development services provider to the insurance and financial services industry in Australia, New Zealand and the Asia Pacific region.

The judges had this to say about Damian:
"Damian Alexander has been selected as the Broking Professional of the Year for 2012.
Although he has only recently started a new insurance broking operation he has demonstrated that he has sound processes that drive strong relationships with his clients.
He is an example of fresh talent demonstrating what is possible when it comes to carving out a successful path for indigenous brokers.
The judging panel was impressed with Damian's clear commitment to personal development-obtaining a National Certificate in Financial Services Level 5 and keeping up-to-date with continuing professional development. This enables him to have a comprehensive offering across life, health and general insurance products.
Damian continually expresses a strong desire to build long-term relationships with clients based on trust and integrity and he offers professional and independent insurance advice grounded in strong personal service."

Emerging Professional of the Year: Mikayla Pereira
Insurance Leader of the Year: John Lyon
Lifetime Achievement Award: Alan Race

Damian Alexander has over 17 years experience in the financial services and is the Director of New Zealand Financial Brokers Limited, a proud member of the Plus4 Insurance Solutions group and Insurance Advisernet New Zealand (IANZ).

Grant Uridge said, “We commend the IBANZ and the ANZIIF for taking the initiative to organise the inaugural New Zealand Insurance Industry Awards and congratulate the winners and finalists who contended each category.”
