Yealands Wine Group adds to their Gold Medal Tally

Yealands Wine Group adds to their Gold Medal Tally

Yealands Wine Group awarded 11 medals at the Air New Zealand Wine Awards

With a number of international accolades already under its belt, Yealands Wine Group has further cemented its reputation for producing quality, sustainable wines with a haul of 11 medals at the prestigious Air New Zealand Wine Awards.

The Yealands Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2012 and Yealands Estate Single Block Series M2 Sauvignon Blanc were each awarded a Pure Gold medal.

Tamra Washington, Chief Winemaker of Yealands Wine Group, says these latest results top off an already hugely successful year for the company

“It is exciting to see our wines performing so well, especially across the broader range of our portfolio. The two Pure Gold medals are testament to the commitment of our winemaking and vineyard teams, in addition to the outstanding fruit we receive from our Seaview Vineyard in the Awatere Valley.”

Earlier this year a single vineyard Sauvignon Blanc from the Yealands Seaview Vineyard was awarded the World’s Best Sauvignon Blanc at the International Wine Challenge.

“Our goal since inception was to produce world-class wines and become a global leader in sustainable winemaking. The recent recognition we have received demonstrates that we are well on the way to achieving that dream.”

The Air New Zealand Wine Awards are considered the premier wine competition in New Zealand and this year attracted 1,367 entries from 10 winegrowing regions. The awards are open to all wine varieties and were judged by 16 local and international judges to identify medal and trophy winners for each category.

The medals will be presented at a gala dinner in Wellington on Saturday 24 November.
