Certus makes senior ANZ line of business appointment

20 November 2012. Certus Solutions – the region’s largest specialist IBM systems integration company – has appointed former Digital Post Australia chief technology officer Gerard Roberts to the new position of Director, Enabling Solutions, based in Sydney.

Certus Managing Director Brian Allen says Gerard (Ged) Roberts will head up a key ‘line of business’ unit across Certus offices at major centres around Australia and New Zealand. He says the Certus Enabling Solutions line of business unit combines specialist Certus sales and consulting expertise around IBM’s web applications including mobility, enterprise collaboration, social business and middleware and IBM’s Rational software development environment.

“The Certus LOBs are the IBM technology centres of excellence within Certus. Together the LOBs provide end-to-end services across the IBM solutions portfolio and are a critical element in our ability to deliver a sophisticated solutions capability to our customers,” Allen says.

“Ged Roberts is an important addition to the Certus team, bringing great depth and breadth of experience, both as a senior manager and a leading Enterprise Architect with international experience in key market sectors such as banking and finance, telecommunications and the public sector. He has deep technical knowledge across all architecture layers coupled with excellent consulting, business and project management skills.”

Prior to joining Certus, Ged Roberts was chief technology officer for Digital Post Australia – a technology start up that brought a game changing digital postal mail service to consumers and businesses in Australia. He is a former practice manager of the Systems Integration practice for SMS Management and Technology where he managed a team of 70 project managers, architects and integration specialists. In the UK, career experience included senior enterprise architecture and technical roles with Marsh (one of the world’s largest insurance broking firms), Cap Gemini and Lloyds Register of Shipping. He began his career as an Engineer Officer in the British Merchant Navy before working as a Naval Architect for Lloyds Register of Shipping in London. Ged is a Chartered Engineer and has an MSc in Computing.
