NZ company teams with Walgreens US to deliver world first

International, Hamilton based App company MEA Mobile have delivered the world's first photo assistant app, Printicular, to upload photos from your phone's camera, Facebook, and Instagram directly to Walgreen locations in the US.

Walgreens is the United state's largest pharmacy chain, where 75% of the U.S. population lives within five miles of a Walgreens’ store.

Printicular, releases just in time to capture the holidays and the free app allows people to select pictures from their phone’s camera, Facebook account and now Instagram then upload the pics to a local Walgreens store. Prints are ready to be picked up in about an hour. “What’s unique about Instagram is the re-famous 4x4 size which harkens back to older formats,” says Bruce Seymour, Managing Director of MEA Mobile, New Haven office. “Walgreens now allows you to print in this retro dimension and Printicular makes it easy for you to send the photos.”

“Nothing compares to the lasting nature of physical prints” says Joe Rago, Senior Mobile Product Manager at Walgreens, “and Printicular’s intuitive interface allows seamless ordering of Facebook, camera, and now Instagram photos. Walgreens is very pleased to be working with MEA Mobile as an early partner of our Quick Prints program.” Available print sizes include Instagram’s 4x4 print size along with, 4x6, 5x7 and 8x10 option.

The Printicular app is for android only, where currently there are 50 - 100 million installs of Instagram. iPhone and windows 8 are to follow close behind.

At the beginning of the week MEA Mobile also released their entire menu of apps free for 72 hours and as of this morning MEA Mobile apps hold 2 of the top 3 Tablet ranks in the iTunes photo/video category.
