Home Direct predicts what Kiwi kids can expect for Christmas

Kiwi kids’ Christmas stockings will be filled with, crafts, stuffed toys; dolls for girls, and cars, skateboards and water guns for boys, according to leading direct selling retailer Home Direct’s early Christmas toy sales.

Home Direct general manager, Jodi Comrie says Christmas shopping has well and truly started.

“Customers know the best products run out before Christmas and many are starting their shopping early. It is best to buy what you know your family will like when you see it, rather than hoping it will still be available in December,” says Ms Comrie.

The top five toys for boys and girls customers have been purchasing are:

BoysGirls
Mighty Beans Star Wars Light Saber
Whipple Sensational Sweets
Remote Control Flip Car
Jewellery Craft Set
Tool Set Car Track
Princess Dresser
Edwards Skateboards
Princess Carriage with Doll
Pump Action Water Gun
TY Beanie Monstaz

Unisex items which have also been popular include Mini Blendy Pens, Learning Board, Pillow Pets, Learning Laptop and Keyboard Dance Mats.

The average Christmas present spend has been $42.00, with people spending from $10.00 up to $129.00 for children’s toys. The majority of toys being purchased are from the unisex category accounting for 49 per cent of toy sales.

“We offer a range of payment options, which appeal to many customers around Christmas time, particularly our Lifestyle Account, which offers a revolving line of credit as it means they can receive their goods now and pay them off over a period of time. Our online store offers credit applications and approval online,” says Ms Comrie.

Ms Comrie says Home Direct’s direct retail service, including its new online store www.homedirect.co.nz, means customers don’t have to worry about the hassle of finding a car park and dealing with the crowds during the hectic Christmas shopping period.

Home Direct is a New Zealand owned national retailing company with a 40 year history of providing a range of products to customers seeking the convenience, affordability and payment options to suit their personal circumstances. Customers can select products via phone or catalogue and now from their computer through the online store.
