Dimension Data Asia Extends Cloud Services to Asia Pacific

New Managed Cloud Platform enables global organisations to leverage cloud benefits of increased agility and reduced costs

Singapore, 17 January 2012 – Dimension Data, the USD5.8 billion ICT services and solutions provider, today announced that its Managed Cloud Platform™ (MCP) is now available in Hong Kong. This brings to five, the number of MCPs the Group has launched since Dimension Data announced the global delivery platform for all its cloud services. The Hong Kong MCP enables Dimension Data to further entrench its global cloud presence, making it easier for organisations to harness the cost and agility benefits of a self-service cloud model. In addition, it provides organisations low latency access to secure, enterprise-class public, private and hosted private cloud services within the Asia Pacific Region.

Bill Padfield, Chief Executive Officer, Dimension Data Asia said, "With MCPs now in Hong Kong, the US, The Netherlands, Australia and South Africa, global organisations have local and global access to enterprise-class cloud services that are high-performance, easy-to-use and flexible. Our offerings serve the needs of both enterprises and service providers. Just in October, we announced that Indosat, a leading Indonesian integrated telecoms and data service provider, will offer local enterprises Indosat Cloud, a public cloud Infrastructure-as-a-Service based on Dimension Data’s public cloud.”

Dimension Data offers public and private cloud Compute-as-a-Service (CaaS) solutions that provide self-service, on-demand, cloud-based compute, storage and networking resources. Using a web-based or REST-based application interface (API), clients are able to provision, access and manage public, private and hosted private cloud services by Dimension Data.

Dimension Data's private cloud services provide a pre-determined set of server and storage resources as a dedicated service that can be deployed either in a client's data centre, or off-premise. The service includes the physical infrastructure, virtualisation and operating system software, implementation, cloud management (automated provisioning, orchestration and billing) and ongoing management by Dimension Data. Dimension Data's managed hosting services go beyond infrastructure hosting and include deployment, management and delivery of applications as well. Page 2 of 3

In addition, Dimension Data’s cloud offerings come complete with the following:

• Easy-to-use, web-based user interface for public, private and hosted private cloud services

• Self-service, on-demand provisioning of virtual servers, storage and networking

• Simplified integration with third-party applications and systems with REST-based API

• Hardware-based networking and security (VLANs, firewalls, VPN access)

• SSAE 16, European Safe Harbor and HIPAA Certifications

• Regional MCP presence and global reach, to address data sovereignty and compliance requirements

Already, thousands of clients have signed up for Dimension Data’s public cloud services across financial, manufacturing, government, healthcare, gaming, Internet and software industries. The company plans to aggressively roll out its cloud services with partners in Hong Kong, India and Japan before the end of the year. Dimension Data hosts hundreds of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) providers, including Accept Software, ClearBenefits, Compuware Gomez, Glassbeam, Thermo Fisher Scientific and Xactly.

Francis Pang, General Manager, Dimension Data Hong Kong said, "The timing of the Hong Kong roll-out is fitting. Hong Kong’s Government Chief Information Officer recently announced that cloud computing will be ranked at the top of the government’s IT agenda. Dimension Data is proud to be among the first cloud service vendors to be named an approved government public cloud service provider. Now, we're aiming to make the same IT benefits available to Hong Kong's private sector as well. Clients across different sectors in Hong Kong, such as financial, transportation, travel, government and education, have already signed up for our cloud offerings.”

All of Dimension Data's MCPs are enterprise-ready, offering multiple layers of security, administrative controls, 99.99 percent availability SLAs on Public Cloud, 24/7 phone support and integrated management capabilities. To help organisations along their journey to the cloud, Dimension Data also offers cloud readiness, enablement and integration services. To celebrate the availability of the Hong Kong MCP, Dimension Data will be offering a free trial for new clients.
