Families celebrate Chinese New Year with Ziptrek Ecotours

Only three days into Chinese New Year celebrations and Queenstown’s Ziptrek Ecotours has already seen an increased number of Chinese visitors embracing New Zealand’s first zipline tour.

Among the award-winning company’s visitors today (February 12) were four families visiting Queenstown for a week-long holiday to welcome in the Year of the Snake.

Ziptrek Ecotours’ Sales Executive Will Murphy said this was the families’ second trip to New Zealand but their first visit to Queenstown.

“The parents all work together in Hong Kong and their children are close friends, and although they’ve all ziplined elsewhere, they said they really love our views and fantastic tree houses,” said Mr Murphy.

“They chose Ziptrek Ecotours because it’s something they could all do together as a group and have fun at the same time.”

Ziptrek Ecotours has already seen a rise in Chinese guests this week and anticipates a further increase over the coming days as more people arrive following the main celebrations in China.

Ziptrek Ecotours is making its Chinese visitors feel right at home with brochures translated into Mandarin, staff trained in Mandarin and Cantonese culture and pleasantries, and decorations in the zipline’s tree houses and its downtown office, along with the recent installation of UnionPay credit facilities.
