Milestone Financial Services Limited makes the following statement in relation to inflammatory and totally spurious comment around advice given on how to pre-register for the Mighty River Power shares and a possible privacy leak from the website receiving these enquiries.

We had received a number of mostly e-mail enquiries from our clients yesterday asking how they could pre-register an interest in the shares and advice as to whether they should be investing in them. As a service to clients the Christchurch office sent an e-mail to its newsletter database of clients
1. Any link between the lady leaving her details on the Government 0800 number and subsequently receiving an email from us is purely coincidental. We have had no contact with the Treasury, the call centre or any of its staff prior to sending the email.
2. No Milestone adviser has been pro-actively ringing clients about Mighty River Power as there is insufficient information to provide any advice on the topic at this stage.

3. The Christchurch Milestone office yesterday sent an email out to CLIENTS and only CLIENTS providing details on how to pre-register interest on the Mighty River Power shareoffer website. This email did not provide any advice on the offer and only advised on the process on how to pre-register and what to place in the relevant boxes.

4. Milestone Financial Services is not receiving any leads or information for the Mighty River Power share offer from any third party and that includes the website.
Milestone will be making no verbal comments on this matter to the media.
