Changes to Balance of Payments and International Investment Position: Year ended 31 March 2012

Statistics New Zealand has today published several corrections to the figures in Balance of Payments and International Investment Position: Year ended 31 March 2012, originally published on 27 September 2012.

We discovered the errors in the published statistics for stocks and flows of direct investment, specifically for the economic country groupings of APEC, ASEAN, EU, and OECD. Values for the year ended March 2001 to the year ended March 2012 have now been corrected. Individual country information and all other figures are unaffected.

We have now updated our checking procedures for these statistics and sincerely regret any inconvenience.

Corrected versions of the information and media releases are attached to this email. This email contains the same information you received earlier today, but clarifies why we made these corrections.
