Auckland Airport celebrates retail excellence

Auckland Airport celebrates retail excellence

A number of retail businesses based at Auckland Airport have been acknowledged for their outstanding performance at the annual Auckland Airport Retail Excellence Awards.

The Awards, which are in their third year, are organised by Auckland Airport to recognise outstanding team players, exceptional performance and great customer service at businesses based at the Airport.

Announced at a cocktail function held at the Novotel Auckland Airport, the event saw 14 awards presented, with the ‘2012 Retailer of the Year’ the major award of the evening.

The prize for the Retailer of the Year Award was an impressive $50,000 worth of airport advertising, provided by EYE Corp as the main sponsor, and Billboard solutions and Omnigraphics as part sponsors, of the prize.

The winner of the 2012 Retailer of the Year Award was Travelpharm, who are based at the international terminal and offer a range of over the counter pharmacy and healthcare items, a selection of travel related products, as well as New Zealand health supplements and beauty products.

Paul Divers, Auckland Airport Acting General Manager Retail, says the Retail Excellence Awards acknowledge the crucial role that airport retailers play in the perceptions of visitors to Auckland and New Zealand.

“Our Airport retailers form an important part of the first and last impressions of Auckland and New Zealand for millions of international and domestic visitors,” says Paul.

“It is an important responsibility that retailers not only accept, but perform very well at. New Zealand is often regarded as one of the friendliest countries in the world and we cannot understate the role our retailers play in helping to maintain that image.”
